Master Thesis projects - January 2020 - Research and Engineering

Hey Master students,

We welcome you to apply for one of our thesis projects. 

As young professional we offer you:

We welcome Master students on the last year of your studies at Swedish university or campus to start your Master Thesis project in January 2020.

All projects will be run at our Lab in Kista. After finalizing your degree project you will receive a compensation of 30.000 SEK (before TAX). 

Thesis suggestions:

X-ray radiation effects on electronics and embedded systems

Subject/field: Electrical Engineering, Embedded systems

The project will focus on knowledge if or how X-ray radiation affects electronics / embedded systems located next to an X-ray source. The aim is to develop a method and to quantify how X-ray exposure on electronics / embedded system can or will affects its performance and longtime reliability.

Courses in: Programming, Embedded systems

Skills in: Embedded C/C++, Matlab/Simulink, Electronics, Embedded systems


Alternative liquid metal jet pump system for an X-ray source

Subject/field: Mechanical Engineering 

 The project will focus on development of an alternative pump solution that pushes the liquid metal around the jet loop system in a MetalJet X-ray source. The aim is to study the existing pump solution and to develop and demonstrate an alternative pump solution that can replace the current pump solution.

Courses in: Mechanics, basics in fluid mechanics

Skills in: Mechanical design, CAD

Modelling and simulation of liquid metal jet loop system for an X-ray source

Subject/field: Mechanical Engineering / Fluid Mechanics

The project will focus on physical modeling and simulation of a liquid metal jet loop system using a simulation tool such as AMESIM/Dymola.

The aim is to build a complete physical model of the liquid metal jet loop system used in Excillum MetalJet X-ray sources. The modelling phase will be followed by a simulation phase and a parameter analysis that should result in suggestion how the overall design can be improved to achieve better jet performance.

 Courses in: Fluid mechanics, Computational Physics, Numerical methods

Skills in: Matlab/Simulink, Dymola/AMESIM or other modelling / simulation tools.

Machine vision for closed-loop alignment of x‑ray optics

Subject/field: Optics / Mechanical Engineering

The aim of the project is to develop and demonstrate a machine vision system that monitors movement of an x-ray optical element relative to an x-ray source and feedback the movement to translation stages to stabilize the position of the mirror relative to the source.

Courses in: Optics and Computational Physics and Numerical methods

Skills in: Mechanical design, Matlab, C++, Basics in Linux
