We welcome Master students on the last year of your studies at Swedish university or campus to start your Master Thesis project in January 2019.

Thesis suggestions: 

Modeling a liquid metal jet in vacuum

Subject/field: Mechanical Engineering /Fluid mechanics

The project will focus on numerical modeling of a liquid metal-jet. The aim is to investigate the instability mechanism in a fluid mechanical perspective. A CFD model will be used to predict time-resolved flow information such as velocity, turbulence intensity, temperature as well as the jet structure. The results will be compared to the data from experiments conducted in the Excillum lab. 

Courses in: Fluid mechanics, Computational Physics, Numerical methods

Skills in: C++, Matlab, OpenFoam or other CFD toolkits, Basics about Linux


Electron Optics Simulation Tool

Subject/field: Physics 

Develop a simulation toolkit for fast and accurate MATLAB based ray tracing using an analytical field model that satisfies the Laplace equation and a Graphic User Interface (GUI) to control it. The goal is to achieve parametric optimization and characterization of electron beam sources and electro-optical elements such as focus lenses, deflectors and quadrupoles.

All projects will be run at our Lab in Kista. After finalizing your degree project you will receive a compensation of 30.000 SEK (before TAX).
